On Friday night, June 6th 2025, Kwenda was honoured with Malawi’s Innovation & Tech Solution of the Year Award at the ICT Association of Malawi Corporate Awards Gala, held at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe.

“This award is a proud moment for Kwenda with just 11 months into operations and it is a significant milestone in our mission to simplify travel and event experiences in Malawi and rest of Africa through technology. Being recognised in this category reflects the company’s commitment to building local digital solutions that respond to real needs within the tourism and entertainment sectors.” Added the Founder and CEO of Kwenda, Lumbani Gondwe.

Kwenda’s platform allows users to discover and book travel experiences, access events, and buy tickets online, while supporting local businesses with tools to manage and promote their offerings more effectively.

Receiving this award is a powerful encouragement to continue developing technology that enhances how Malawians connect with travel, leisure, and culture.

In addition to winning the Innovation & Tech Solutions Award, Kwenda was also nominated in two other categories: Startup of the Year and ICT Firm of the Year. These nominations reflect the company’s growing presence in the local tech space.
