The signing ceremony took place on Thursday, 14 August 2025, at Amaryllis Hotel in Blantyre.

A step forward for Malawi’s tourism industry

The MoU establishes Kwenda.Co as the official digital partner of MTC, helping to digitise the country’s tourism offerings and boost resilience, convenience, and competitiveness. Through this partnership, all accommodation providers under MTC will now be onboarded onto Kwenda — Malawi’s all-in-one travel platform for accommodation bookings, event ticketing, and football access.

MTC Executive Director Memory Mumba Kamthunzi emphasised the significance of this partnership:

“A modern traveller wants access to services from anywhere at the click of a button and for Malawi to remain competitive, we must embrace technology. This partnership underscores the council’s commitment to innovation as a driver of sector growth, thereby boosting the country’s visibility and competitiveness on the global tourism market.”

The event was also graced by Mr. Ramy Waheed, the Global Ambassador of the African Tourism Board, Vice Chairperson of the Malawi Tourism Council, and Managing Director of Amaryllis Hospitality Group, alongside key players in Malawi’s tourism and hospitality sector.

Mr. Waheed delivered a speech emphasizing the impact of this partnership:
